Welcome to CuraNow Health.

I'm LaShunda K. Phillips, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, healthcare executive, and founder of CuraNow Health.

I began my healthcare career in 2004 and have spent more than two decades caring for patients and working within healthcare systems.

Since 2014, I have practiced as a healthcare provider, with clinical experience spanning urgent care, emergency care, geriatric care, post-acute care, memory care, and assisted living.

That breadth of experience has shaped the way I practice today. I understand the importance of recognizing what can be safely treated virtually, what requires additional testing or an in-person examination, and when a patient's symptoms may require a higher level of care.

It is also the foundation on which I built CuraNow Health.

Urgent & Emergency Care Experience

My experience in urgent and emergency care has allowed me to evaluate and manage patients presenting with a wide variety of acute health concerns.

Throughout my clinical practice, I have cared for patients experiencing everything from common everyday illnesses to conditions requiring more extensive evaluation and escalation of care.

This experience is particularly important in virtual healthcare.

Not every health concern belongs in an emergency department — but not every condition can be safely managed virtually either.

My approach is to determine the appropriate level of care, provide treatment when virtual management is appropriate, and recognize when symptoms require laboratory testing, imaging, an in-person examination, urgent evaluation, or emergency care.

A Special Focus on Older Adults

For more than a decade, a significant part of my Nurse Practitioner practice has also focused on caring for the geriatric population.

My experience includes caring for older adults across:

  • Post-acute care
  • Memory care
  • Assisted living
  • Chronic-condition management
  • Medication management and reconciliation
  • Cognitive and functional changes
  • Transitions following hospitalization
  • Coordination with families and caregivers
  • Residential care needs

Caring for older adults often requires looking beyond a single diagnosis.

Medications, mobility, cognition, chronic conditions, living environment, caregiver support, functional abilities, and quality of life can all influence the care plan.

That experience is why Geriatric Primary Care and RCFE Services are an important part of CuraNow Health.

My Approach to Care

I believe great healthcare starts with listening.

My goal is to understand your concerns, explain what may be happening, and develop a clear plan for what comes next.

Patients can expect care focused on:

  • Listening to your concerns
  • Thorough clinical assessment
  • Clear and understandable recommendations
  • Responsible medication management
  • Appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing
  • Care coordination and referrals when needed
  • Recognition of when virtual care is appropriate
  • Timely referral to in-person, urgent, or emergency care when necessary

Whether I'm caring for someone with an everyday acute illness or helping an older adult and their family navigate more complex healthcare needs, my goal remains the same: Provide thoughtful care and make healthcare easier to understand and navigate.

Education & Professional Credentials

My education combines advanced clinical practice, healthcare systems leadership, and business administration.

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice — Healthcare Systems Leadership (DNP-HSL)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Nurse Executive Advanced — Board Certified (NEA-BC)

Why I Created CuraNow Health

After more than two decades in healthcare and more than a decade as a healthcare provider, I have seen healthcare from many perspectives.

I've seen patients wait hours for conditions that could have been appropriately managed in a more convenient setting. I've also seen how important it is to recognize when seemingly simple symptoms require a higher level of care.

I've watched older adults and their families struggle to navigate medications, hospital transitions, chronic conditions, residential care requirements, and multiple healthcare providers.

I created CuraNow Health to provide a simpler option.

CuraNow Health brings together my experience in urgent care, emergency care, primary care, and geriatric care to provide convenient, personalized healthcare for patients and families throughout California.
